Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kaloyan Smilkov

Expert in International Relations and Comparative Political Science

Kaloyan Smilkov is a Bulgarian political and legal anthropologist and an expert in international relations and comparative political science. He is an established scholar with long-standing academic and research experience. His work focuses on the interaction between law, culture, and politics in contemporary societies.

In his academic research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Smilkov examines the relationship between power, legitimacy, and codification in the context of political and legal anthropology. He is the author of numerous scholarly publications and a regular participant in international conferences.

He defended his PhD in 2005 and obtained his habilitation in 2011. He has taught at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”, New Bulgarian University, and the “Vasil Levski” National Military University, and in 2011 was a visiting lecturer at the University of Białystok in Poland. His research covers political theory, history, geography, and civilization studies. He is the author of the monograph “Power and Man” (2011) and co-author of several documentary films.
