Member of the Managing Board; Expert on Africa and Central and Eastern Europe
Bulgarian-German political scientist, africanist, and polyglot. Dr. Dimitar Keranov is one of the founders and a member of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian Institute for International Politics. He holds a PhD in Political Science with a focus on democratization in Africa. His expertise also covers international relations and domestic political dynamics in Central and Eastern Europe.
Dr. Keranov is the only Bulgarian political scientist fluent in Afrikaans and the author of the first Afrikaans phrasebook for Bulgarian speakers. In addition to his native Bulgarian, he is proficient in English, German, Russian, Czech, Slovak, Croatian, Serbian, Spanish, Galician, Italian, Portuguese, Hungarian, Romanian, Dutch, and French.
